Our
ISDN account is perfect for the organization that has some computers
on an ethernet LAN, wants access for some or all.
You don't need to "dial in" or "log on" - all
you need to do is click on a web link or check your email to open
your connection. Your connection comes "up" in about <1
second, and you'll feel as if you're connected full-time.
All
computers on your LAN are connected at the same time.

This
uses a dial-up ISDN connection. The Ascend Pipeline 50 router drops
your connection after two minutes of inactivity, keeping your connect
time (and your phone bill) to a minimum.
Because
the routers drop the connection when it isn't in use, and reconnect
when you need it you'll feel as if you're connected full-time, but
you'll actually be on-line 1 or 2 hours/day with typical use.
Request a a flat-rate for your ISDN calls from your local phone
provider.
A
64K connection is opened at first, increasing to 128K as needed.
The routers support STAC compression, and will provide throughput
of up to 512K on compressable data (email, the text in web pages,
etc.), roughly equivalent to 1/3 of a T1 connection.
Because
you are not actually on-line full-time, small-office-LAN accounts
cannot be used to host web sites on your own computers, but you
do get web space on our server www.his.com to use for your site
if you wish, or get a Web Hosting
account.
