HIS mailing lists offer reliable,
high speed delivery to subscriber lists of all sizes.
Lists may be two-way, where subscribers can post to the
list, or one way, where only the list administrator can
post. One-way/broadcast lists are ideal for
delivery of newsletters and product announcements.
List configuration is very flexible - lists may be open
(anybody can subscribe themselves) or closed (you have to
approve subscription requests). You can choose between
moderated (you approve all messages sent to the list) or
unmoderated (messages are posted to the list
automatically). You can even choose to have some
members moderated and others unmoderated.
Subscribers can elect to get their messages in digest
format - this is popular for discussion lists where there
are many individual posts each day. Some subscribers prefer
to get the day's messages bundled together in a single
"digest" rather than as individual messages.
The web-accessible archive is a popular way to offer your
subscribers (and non-subscribers) a way to view your list
messages by date, author or subject. Your archive can be
public or private. The archive can be browsed by
date, subject, thread or author, and is fully
searchable. The archive is updated automatically as
new messages are posted, so it's always up to date.
Another important feature: automatic bounce
management. Subscribers are constantly changing their
addresses and cancelling their old accounts, and Mailman
frees the list Administrator of the task of managing email
bounces from old/erroneous email addresses by automatically
unsubscribing members whose mail starts bouncing
consistently.
Mail coming in to our list servers is filtered for spam,
viruses and phishing messages. Normally lists are set
so that only subscribers can post messages, so the risk of
spam being sent to the list is small, but the pre-filtering
that we apply reduces the risk even further.
Our list servers are tuned to deliver their mail at high
speeds - as the list messages are generated, they're
immediately handed off to servers whose only job is to
deliver the mail as quickly as possible. Most
messages are delivered within seconds of the time they're
generated; it isn't always possible to deliver 100% of the
mail immediately, since the receiving mail server might be
down, but our servers keep trying until the delivery
succeeds.
When we set up your list, we set reasonable default values
that you probably won't need to change, but if you do
want to make changes, you can do so at any time via your
list administrator's control panel.
To see the email list control panel, see our demo
list (use testing as the password). There's a
sample list archive here.
